Dorris and Stu | Memphis, Tennessee Wedding Photography

In early September Christine and I traveled to Memphis, TN for a very special wedding couple. Dorris and Stu reside in Washington DC, but chose to marry at the Inn at Hunt Phelan antique home right by Beale St. in downtown Memphis. The first time we met them was at the Madison Hotel the night before their wedding. As soon as we recognized Dorris and Stu, we realized that both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding, were going to be tasteful and unconventional events.

We were warmly welcomed into the top floor’s balcony were their rehearsal dinner was set up, and as we looked around we instinctively began shooting the glittering lights of the bridge, the candid smiles of the guests, and the wobbly dances of the children. The view from the Madison Hotel was mesmerizing–as you can see in the very first shots below.

After our time shooting the dinner, Christine and I ventured to Beale Street, to grab a quick drink {and shoot more pictures, of course} before returning to our Hotel.

memphis2The following day, was wedding time! When we arrived at the Hunt Phelan, the first thing we noticed were the VINTAGE WALLPAPERS, each differing, and more beautiful in every room. Dorris had a stunning creamy silk gown, accented with beautiful beading at the waist and in her one of a kind head-piece. Everything about this wedding  screamed class! The couple, the attire, the venue, the food– everything had been chosen with impeccable taste.  Right down to the BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES, which we adored most of all.

Stu and Dorris were so warm to us all through out the day, and we could not have felt more welcome. Dorris and Stu– we know you have recently returned from your honeymoon {which sounded so quaint and romantic}, thank you so much for making us feel so welcome from beginning to end, we hope you love your images as much as we do :)

Photoshoot for Design Sponge and Once Wed

Vania and I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented Ladies in the wedding industry this past week. When we were contacted by Emily of OnceWed (She’s one of the top wedding bloggers around) and asked if we would like to team up with her, the talented Amy Osaba and Joy Thigpen, we immediately and without hesitation cleared our schedules and planned a road-trip to Atlanta to photograph the following – most darling, most beautiful- table set-up in existence :)

The peach element was inspired by a romantic engagement session, we shot a few months ago at a peach orchard.

Tori & Devin-our dear friends married! | {Missouri Wedding Photography}

We first met Tori and Devin over a year ago at a local coffee store for a wedding consultation simply as clients. We had a great meeting as we chatted about their wedding in Missouri;all while longing to photograph this incredibly good looking fun couple! A few months later we shot their engagement session, began hanging out and….. After over a year, long talks, good drinks, endless board games, many late nights and even more jokes-we consider them our closest friends. At the time, we thought we were so lucky booking their wedding, but what we didn’t know is that with time, we’d be even luckier to be their friends. It was blissful shooting our friends’ wedding because of many many reasons. For example, when we first saw Tori, the morning of their wedding- she let out all her nerves as she energetically greeted us with a slightly too-high-pitched-absolutely-adorable voice! We loved how open, uninhibited, and comfortable Tori and Devin were in front of the cameras all day long- and the whole day just could not have gone more fabulously. Tori and Devin’s wedding was in Kennet Missouri (home town of Sheryl Crow 😉 ); Some of the things we loved about this wedding, besides the marvelous couple of course, were: their first kiss as husband and wife, the guitar shaped groom’s cake, the orange guitar picks they used as wedding favors, and the fact that they allotted a great amount of time for artistics of just the two of them-as the sun dimmed flawlessly.

Enjoy looking at our best friend and her ever so awesome new husband!

Rome, Italy Summer 2009

Whilst on my vacation with my husband in Italy, I was able to incorporate 2 SimplyBloom sessions. I know, I know I cheated and “worked” while on vacation, but just wait until you see the images. It was no obligation to say the least. The sessions were in completely different cities: one in Rome and one in Positano (Naples area). For now, I will post my favorites from the session in Rome! I must say, shooting in Italy was a DREAM. I am from there, but before I saw things from a photographers’ perspective, I had never FULLY appreciated how my own country overflows with beauty, art, and splendor.

Stacey & Chris: Sweet as Candy {Perfect Match Session}

Vania left for her long-awaited vacation to Italy today, and left the business with me for the next 3 weeks (of which I will be gone a week myself) and before SimplyBloom is essentially shut down for a while, I will try to post as many blog posts as I possibly can. We have SO many sessions yet to blog (stay tuned for 2 fantastic weddings, an adorable 9 day old little man, as well as 2 quirky families) and I will try to put a dent into it with Stacey and Chris’ engagement session. Their session was a true blast and the candy theme was a complete success, well… besides the little incident where the **police came and demanded us to quit shooting and “clean up the mess” we made. Apparently not everyone believes in the beauty of art 😉
